Rockland Flooring Awarded Defender Composite Patent

Red Wing, MN (November 22, 2016) – Rockland Flooring, a leader in the production of trailer flooring for the transportation industry, announced it was granted a United States Patent for the production of wood flooring with reinforced thermoplastic underlay.  Over the years Rockland Flooring has been developing advanced solutions for the transportation industry.  The most recent patent furthers Rockland’s position as a leader in the market by solving problems and offering value to OEM’s and fleets across America.

The patented method produces a reinforced truck trailer or container floor using a laminated wood component with a water impermeable fiber-reinforced thermoplastic underlay adhered to the bottom surface of the wood.  It is marketed under the name DefenderTM Composite Flooring.

“Rockland Flooring continues to provide innovative solutions and this new patent shows our commitment to the transportation industry and our valuable customers,” says Chris Wolford, Rockland Flooring Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “Fleets want stronger floors with higher floor ratings and increased service life.  DefenderTM is a unique product because it’s capable of delivering all of these benefits but at a fraction of the cost of traditional composite flooring.  Defender has been our most successful product launch to date simply because of the value proposition.”
